In October, corn prices fell more sharply than egg prices, improving São Paulo poultry producers’ purchasing power for corn and ending a three-month decline. The monthly average corn price in Campinas fell 5.92% from September to R$65.76 per 60-kilogram sack, while white eggs in Bastos declined 1.88% to R$127.32 per 30 dozen.
Soybean meal purchasing power fell for a fourth consecutive month as meal prices rose.
Ample corn availability, weaker international quotations and a weaker dollar weighed on domestic corn prices, easing feed costs for egg producers. Rising soybean meal prices are moving in the opposite direction and reducing producers’ purchasing power for that feed ingredient.
