Vietnamese exporters say the fall in the USD/VND exchange rate has reduced the dong value of their dollar earnings. A wood-chip exporter cited a decline of nearly 600 dong per dollar since the start of the year and said the resulting revenue shortfall amounts to tens of billions of dong monthly; falling collateral values and high borrowing costs are adding pressure.
A stronger dong reduces exporters’ local-currency proceeds from dollar sales and can weaken their competitiveness. No direct feed-commodity price impact is identified.
