Egypt’s treasury will receive up to half of the EGP 36.37 billion raised in Banque du Caire’s IPO, or about EGP 18.2 billion, to help ease public debt pressures. The proceeds will first go to Banque Misr, the bank’s owner, before the Finance Ministry handles the settlement; Banque du Caire shares rose 0.19% on their debut.
The IPO proceeds are directed toward government debt management, with no direct change to feed or agricultural commodity supply and demand. No material commodity-price effect is indicated.
