The Treasury bought about US$130 million from the central bank to complete the payment, while the central bank bought around US$42 million during the session.
The payment reduced foreign-exchange buffers and heightened near-term liquidity pressure, potentially increasing peso weakness and the local cost of imported feed and inputs. A prospective IMF disbursement could partly replenish available foreign currency after the review.
