Crude oil has fallen sharply this week amid hopes of progress toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ending the Iran war, while refinery product margins have narrowed from mid-October highs. Diesel cracks are reported at $83, down from $102 in mid-October, and refinery shares have also declined, including Valero, which is down 22% since October 13.
Narrower product cracks suggest easing tightness in refined-fuel supply and could reduce diesel and gasoline costs for feed and agricultural supply chains. Winter heating demand and continuing conflict-related risks may limit further normalization.
