Mexico’s Agriculture Ministry said national supplies of white corn for human consumption are sufficient and that it does not expect increases in prices for flour or tortillas. It said strong irrigated production in Sinaloa and southern Sonora, supported by reservoir water, can offset climate-related production losses elsewhere, while strategic reserves and government procurement programs also support availability.
The ministry’s assessment suggests regional production and reserves can cover domestic demand despite weather-related losses, limiting near-term supply concerns and price pressure for white corn. These are official assurances rather than new production figures.
After 445 past neutral weather events, Corn moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (52% higher; middle half -1.4% to +1.6%), and +0.7% over 20.
