Leaders of three U.S. soybean organizations discussed ways to expand soybean demand and improve farmer profitability at an Agri-Pulse webinar. The American Soybean Association is seeking tariff exemptions for farm inputs and, with the National Corn Growers Association, pushed for the suspension of countervailing and antidumping duties on phosphate fertilizers; a review will determine whether those duties are permanently removed.
Lower input costs could improve soybean farmers’ margins and support production, while efforts to expand demand could strengthen soybean use and prices. The fertilizer-duty review could affect phosphate fertilizer trade and costs.
After 356 past bullish policy events, Soybeans moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (53% higher; middle half -1.2% to +2.3%), and -0.9% over 20.
