Xeneta forecasts global container capacity to grow by about 6.8% in 2027, outpacing demand growth of up to 4%. Faster capacity growth and shorter Red Sea transits would ease shipping constraints and weigh on ocean freight rates. Renewed disruption could instead tighten capacity and push rates higher.
