Egypt’s net international reserves rose to a record $57.5 billion at the end of October, up $152 million from September and about $7.43 billion year on year. Foreign currency holdings increased by $768 million to $40.06 billion, more than offsetting a $613 million decline in the value of gold reserves.
Higher reserves can support Egypt’s capacity to finance imports and stabilize its currency, but the report does not identify a direct change in feed or agricultural commodity supply or demand.
