Turkey’s central bank reported that gross foreign-exchange reserves fell by about $3 billion to $56.09 billion in the week ending October 30, their lowest level since late June. Net international reserves also declined for a third consecutive week, reaching $38.01 billion, the lowest since late March.
Falling reserves can reduce the central bank’s capacity to support the lira and increase depreciation pressure. A weaker lira can raise the local-currency cost of imported feed and agricultural inputs.
