Lean hog futures fell 87 cents to $2.45 on Thursday as the USDA national base hog price and CME Lean Hog Index also declined. Pork cutout values slipped, while estimated weekly slaughter reached 1.967 million head; pork export sales were 37,338 metric tons for 2026 shipment.
Declining cash hog prices and pork cutout values signal weaker near-term demand or ample pork availability, pressuring hog prices. Higher slaughter versus last week adds to supply pressure.
