A serological study sampled 444 apparently healthy animals from 33 small farms in three northern Egyptian governorates between October 2024 and January 2026. H5N1 antibodies were found in 4.5% of animals, all cattle, and H9N2 antibodies were found in cattle, sheep and goats.
The results show past exposure without active infection or clinical disease, so they are unlikely to affect livestock or feed supply or prices in the near term.
