A Brazilian consultant says sorghum now has more marketing outlets, including ethanol plants and export buyers. Sorghum is reportedly trading 10% to 15% below corn, and exports to China are estimated at about 2 million tonnes in 2025/26, up from roughly 100,000 tonnes the previous cycle.
The consultant also notes that the cultivated area of about 2.2 million hectares could double by 2035.
Ethanol and China export demand give Brazilian sorghum more buyers and support its discount to corn. The price gap favors use by ethanol mills, which may firm sorghum demand relative to feed uses.
