Avian influenza has reached commercial laying hens in the Netherlands, with two Groningen layer farms culled and a nationwide poultry housing order issued on 28 October. Germany, Denmark, the UK and a large Illinois table-egg farm also reported outbreaks.
Egg prices have not reacted, with retail shell eggs flat to slightly lower and organic and free-range supply tight.
