The Mexican peso lost more than 10 centavos against the dollar in Thursday's session, trading near 18.70 per dollar, after the previous day's gains from the Democratic midterm victory faded. Analysts expect Banxico to keep its benchmark rate at 6.5% and hold it unchanged.
Attention is focused on Banxico's guidance on future rate moves and the rate gap with the Federal Reserve.
A consensus hold by Banxico combined with a possible Fed hike in December would widen the rate gap, which tends to keep pressure on the peso and raises the peso cost of dollar-priced feed imports. The effect on feed prices is modest and gradual.
