DCA Market Intelligence has launched the DCA EU Cheese Index, a weekly euro-per-tonne price index weighting ten European cheese benchmarks by market share. In week 44 the index rose further, driven by higher mozzarella and foil-ripened cheese prices amid stronger pre-Christmas demand and lower milk output in Germany and the Netherlands.
Tighter European milk supply and firm cheese demand support dairy prices, which can lift milk values and dairy-linked feed demand. The effect on feed-grain and protein markets is limited.
