The US dollar fell 1.1% against the Egyptian pound on Wednesday, its second consecutive daily decline, reversing October gains. Egyptian banks quoted the dollar below EGP 55 at the start of Thursday's session, with buying rates around EGP 54.6-54.7.
A weaker dollar against the pound reflects local currency inflows and eased FX pressure in Egypt, a major importer of feed grains and meal. Stronger local currency can lower the cost of dollar-priced imports, though the effect on global feed prices is minor.
