Chicago Board of Trade grain futures were higher in early trading on November 5, with December corn up 1.25 cents at $4.46 a bushel, December wheat up 0.75 cent at $5.99, December oats up 3.75 cents at $3.40, and November soybeans up 4.5 cents at $11.98. Livestock was lower on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, with December live cattle, November feeder cattle and December hogs all down.
Small gains in grains and declines in cattle and hog futures reflect routine intraday trading with no new supply or demand shock. Feed buyers should treat the move as noise rather than a change in the price trend.

Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
