Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman announced a scheme for state agency Perum Bulog to buy surplus corn at harvest and store it as reserve stock through warehouse receipts. Farmers, cooperatives and livestock breeders would be linked in one supply chain, and breeders could draw on the reserve during the September to November lean season.
Buying surplus corn at harvest and releasing it in the lean months should support farm-gate prices and smooth feed-ingredient availability for Indonesian poultry and livestock. The effect on prices is mainly to narrow seasonal swings rather than to move world corn markets.
After 439 past neutral policy events, Corn moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.2%), and +1.1% over 20.
Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
