China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao told Canada's Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu that bilateral consultations had made positive progress, including a further extension of tariff exemptions. The Chinese ministry did not state the new expiry date.
The exemptions cover anti-discrimination tariffs on Canadian canola meal, peas, lobster and crab.
The extension keeps a key channel for Canadian canola meal into China open, which supports demand for Canadian meal and canola products and eases price pressure from tariff risk.
