The ringgit strengthened against the US dollar and other major currencies after Bank Negara Malaysia kept the Overnight Policy Rate at 2.75 per cent at its final policy meeting of the year. The local note closed at 4.0445/0490 per dollar, from 4.0610/0660 the previous day.
Analysts said the decision was in line with expectations and flagged a possible 25 basis point hike in 2027.
A firmer ringgit makes dollar-priced feed imports cheaper for Malaysian buyers, while a weaker dollar and softer oil ease input costs more broadly.
