An OCBC 2018 commodity outlook projects crude palm oil could briefly reach RM3,000 per tonne in Q1 2018 on seasonal production shortfalls, then dip to around RM2,650 by year-end. Malaysian inventories are at 2.6 million tonnes, the highest since December 2015.
High stockpiles and tame demand limit upside in palm oil prices, so the forecast points to a bearish trend over the year despite a seasonal Q1 lift.
