A highly pathogenic H5N1 outbreak was confirmed at a commercial duck farm near Brigg, North Lincolnshire, on 4 November. Industry records indicate about 64,000 ducks are affected, and all poultry on the farm will be culled.
A 3km protection zone and a 10km surveillance zone now restrict bird movements, eggs, poultry meat and litter or manure handling.
Movement restrictions and culling reduce local UK poultry and egg supply, a small effect on global feed demand. The outbreak mainly adds to disease-driven uncertainty for UK poultry output and is unlikely to move grain or meal prices on its own.
