Russian grain exports by sea fell sharply in October 2026 to 2.3 million tonnes, about one-third of the 7 million tonnes shipped a year earlier, according to the Russian Grain Union. Baltic ports gained importance, shipping about 1.56 million tonnes, while Black and Azov Sea shipments collapsed to about 130,500 tonnes.
Egypt remained the largest wheat buyer at 380,000 tonnes, down from 1.5 million tonnes a year earlier.
The loss of Black Sea routes removes a large share of Russian wheat supply from the market, and Baltic rerouting only partly offsets it, supporting wheat prices and feed grain availability.
