Kenanga Research says a Democratic win in both chambers of the US Congress could give near-term support to the Malaysian ringgit and government bonds. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell about seven basis points to 4.89% and the Dollar Index weakened 0.4% to 101.5 after the results.
The firm expects divided government to constrain Trump's legislative agenda, though US fiscal concerns and a debt ceiling standoff could limit gains.
A weaker dollar and softer US yields push USD/MYR lower, which can support Malaysian asset prices. For feed buyers the effect on commodity prices is indirect and modest.
