On November 3, the State Bank of Vietnam announced a six-month foreign currency swap with credit institutions to support longer-term VND funding. The operation is expected to inject up to about 48,800 billion dong through a 182-day swap, with USD bought spot at 24,399 VND and sold forward at 24,704 VND.
Eligible participants are banks with at least 12 months of remaining foreign debt.
Longer-term VND funding can lower lending rates for businesses, including feed mills and livestock producers. The forward premium of about 2.5% per year reflects the cost of the swap for banks.
