US natural gas futures for December delivery edged up about 1% on Wednesday as Lower 48 output fell to 111.2 bcfd in November from 113.4 bcfd in October. Forecasts for cooler mid-November weather also supported prices, while Chicago next-day prices fell about 10% to a 23-month low.
Lower output and expected heating demand support Henry Hub, but weak Midwest spot prices and ample storage cap the rally. Cheaper gas can lower the cost of gas-fired power and ethanol and drying energy for feed producers.
After 221 past bullish weather events, Natural Gas moved a median +3.3% over 5 sessions (61% higher; middle half -5.2% to +14.0%), and -0.3% over 20.
