Tangrenshen (002567.SZ) told investors on its interaction platform, in a reply dated 19 September, that its biofermentation technology can replace part of soybean meal use and cut purchases of fermented soybean meal. It also said synthetic biology has allowed minor amino acids to be used in feed, lowering soymeal use.
Wider use of fermentation-based protein and synthetic amino acids trims long-run soybean meal demand at the margin, which is mildly bearish for SBM and bullish for amino acid suppliers such as lysine.
