MSC will extend its Piracy Risk Surcharge and Suez Canal Surcharge to cargo from Asia to all Mediterranean and Black Sea ports, not just selected ones. The surcharges are USD 55 per TEU for PRS and USD 36 per TEU for SCS, effective 15 November 2026 until further notice.
Higher container freight costs from Asia to the Mediterranean and Black Sea raise landed costs for imported feed ingredients moved in containers, such as additives and some protein meals. Grain bulk freight is largely unaffected by this container surcharge.
