A new Mississippi River bridge linking Lansing, Iowa, and Crawford County, Wisconsin, is scheduled to open to traffic on November 6, months ahead of its original spring 2027 schedule. The replacement bridge widens the navigation channel at the crossing from 650 to 750 feet.
A wider navigation channel and a higher-capacity crossing should ease commercial barge movements on this stretch of the Upper Mississippi. Any price effect on grain flows is small and local.
