China's National Bureau of Statistics reported that in late October 2026, 17 of 50 monitored key production materials rose in price, 28 fell and 5 were flat versus mid-October. Live hogs fell 5.1% to 9.3 yuan/kg, soymeal dropped 2.9%, cotton 1.5% and sugar 1.3%, while wheat rose 0.4%.
Potash fell 4.1%, compound fertilizer 1.8% and urea was broadly flat.
Weaker hog prices and soymeal reflect soft domestic feed demand from a shrinking herd, which pressures soymeal and feed-ingredient demand in China. Fertilizer softness eases input costs for farmers.
