The State Bank of Vietnam is holding its first 6-month (182-day) foreign currency swap, with up to 48,800 billion dong to be supplied to the banking system. It will buy USD at 24,399 dong on November 9 and sell it back at 24,704 dong after 182 days.
The central bank says the longer tenor should give banks steadier dong funding and help lower lending rates.
The longer swap tenor eases dong liquidity and could lower Vietnamese borrowing costs, which affects importers' funding. It has little direct effect on feed grain or protein prices.
