Ukrainian sunflower purchase prices kept falling in early November even as export demand for seed rose. Ukraine exported 57.3 thousand tons of sunflower seed in October 1-29, up from 16.3 thousand in September, and sunflower oil exports rose 84.9% in October to 243.5 thousand tons.
Rising road and rail costs at the western border pushed processors' oil prices down to $900-950/t FCA plant.
Higher logistics costs and idle crushing capacity weaken processors' demand for seed and reduce meal output, which tightens the balance for sunflower meal supply. Domestic prices are falling because the cost of moving product out of Ukraine is rising faster than export demand.
