The State Bank of Vietnam announced a USD/VND swap intervention for 6 November with a 182-day tenor and a maximum size of $2 billion. The spot buy rate was set at 24,399 dong per USD and the forward sell rate at 24,704 dong per USD.
Eligible banks can only participate if they have medium- or long-term foreign borrowing or international bonds with at least 12 months remaining.
The longer tenor gives banks a steadier supply of dong through the end-2026 and early-2027 seasonal credit peak, which supports the currency. A firmer dong lowers the dong cost of imported feed ingredients such as soybean meal and corn.
