Wens Foodstuffs (300498.SZ) told investors that industry capacity clearing is expected to be more thorough, so hog prices next year could beat earlier expectations. The company said hog prices have fallen below 4.6 yuan/jin, below industry forecasts, and that weaker farms will accelerate exits.
It reported a Q3 loss of about 600 million yuan, with its hog business losing about 900 million yuan and chicken profiting about 650 million yuan.
Expected capacity exits point to a future hog herd recovery, which could support future feed demand, but near-term weak margins keep hog-sector feed purchases cautious.
