The US dollar fell to its lowest level against the Vietnamese dong in about 1.5 years, with Vietcombank selling at VND25,930. The dollar also weakened broadly after early US midterm results showed Democrats gaining ground.
The dollar index fell 0.3% to 101.4.
A stronger dong lowers the local-currency cost of dollar-priced feed imports such as corn, soymeal and DDGS for Vietnamese buyers. A weaker dollar index can also support dollar-priced commodities more broadly.
