The Canadian Food Inspection Agency confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza on a commercial poultry farm in the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, on November 1, 2026. It is the ninth HPAI case in Manitoba's commercial flocks this year, with three further cases in non-commercial flocks.
Each commercial flock loss removes birds from Canadian chicken and egg supply, which is mildly supportive for domestic poultry prices. The impact is regional, since non-commercial cases do not affect international trade.
