RaboResearch says global wheat prices are strengthening because of disrupted grain trade, higher freight and insurance costs, and geopolitical instability rather than a world wheat shortage. CBOT forward prices into mid-2027 point to AUD 365-370/tonne, up from AUD 325-335 three months earlier, as markets price in lower Black Sea exports.
Wheat is being priced on logistics and risk premium rather than supply scarcity, so Australian port prices may stay supported while export flows remain disrupted. A ceasefire or restored Black Sea capacity could unwind part of that premium quickly.
After 283 past bullish logistics events, Wheat (SRW) moved a median -0.2% over 5 sessions (46% higher; middle half -1.4% to +1.3%), and -0.1% over 20.
