Live pig and broiler chicken prices in Vietnam have dropped sharply ahead of the Lunar New Year of 2027, with live pigs in some localities down to about 43,000 VND/kg, roughly 40,000 VND/kg lower than at the start of the year. Feed costs have remained high, with one feed importer reporting an increase of about 20% since early 2026, and farms are cutting herds or pausing restocking.
Higher feed costs combined with falling livestock prices are squeezing Vietnamese producers, which can reduce future feed demand for corn, soybean meal and other imported feed ingredients if herd reductions persist.
