London and Brussels reached a provisional agreement on a sanitary and phytosanitary deal that would remove many inspections and certificates for agricultural and food trade between the UK and EU. The pound edged higher to about $1.3416 on the news.
Estimates suggest the deal could add up to £5.1bn a year to the UK economy.
Lower checks on perishable and agricultural goods could cut costs for UK food processors and feed users that import from or export to the EU. The agreement is provisional and its effect on feed commodity flows is modest, though it marginally supports sterling.
