Tyson Foods and other poultry processors asked a federal court to sanction Carina Ventures, a Burford Capital subsidiary, over alleged destruction of evidence in broiler chicken antitrust litigation. The motion, filed October 28 in Illinois, also seeks dismissal of Carina's bid-rigging claims.
This is a legal dispute over antitrust claims with no direct effect on poultry supply, demand or prices. It has little bearing on feed buyers beyond background risk to the broiler industry's cost structure.
