ING reports the Australian dollar fell after the RBA hiked to 4.85% with dovish signals, including a 6-3 vote and a revised weaker outlook. ING expects no further hikes but still targets AUD/USD at 0.7100 by year-end.
ING's view is that the AUD's carry advantage should limit downside, so the currency's effect on Australian commodity export prices is likely to be modest. This is a bank forecast, not a new market driver.
