Russia has launched 12 deep grain processing projects with total investment of 157.1 billion rubles, targeting 5 million tonnes of capacity by 2030. About 3.25 million tonnes are under construction or design, focused on gluten, starch, dextrin and feed proteins.
High transport costs, project entry costs and a 14% interest rate could limit capacity to 1.8–2.2 million tonnes.
Shifting Russian grain from raw exports to processed feed proteins would change the mix of supply, though the capacity build-out is slow and uncertain.
