Cash dairy prices at the CME were mixed on Tuesday. Forty-pound cheese blocks fell 2.25 cents to $1.5775 and butter dropped 35 cents to $1.2975, while nonfat dry milk rose 3.5 cents to $2.16 and dry whey was unchanged at $0.84.
Lower cheese and butter prices weigh on Class III and Class IV milk values, which feed through to dairy by-product feed costs. The nonfat dry milk gain partly offsets the decline and supports protein-based feed demand.
