Canada's Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Heath MacDonald, is in China to advance Canadian agricultural trade. In Beijing he is meeting China's agriculture minister, the customs minister and Chinese importers to address market access challenges.
He will also attend the China International Import Expo in Shanghai, where Canada is the Guest Country of Honour.
Market access talks could ease trade barriers on Canadian agri-food exports, which were valued at C$6.7 billion in 2025. Any progress would support Canadian oilseed and meal demand, though no concrete outcome has been announced yet.
