Bulgaria's meteorological institute issued a red warning for heavy rain above 65 mm in 24 hours in five provinces, with strong wind in four of them, valid from 3 November. Wheat sowing has continued, reaching 393,037 ha by 22 October, nearly twice the area of the same week in 2025.
The institute notes that recommended sowing dates for wheat and barley were missed in October.
Bulgaria is a small wheat producer, so the impact on world prices is limited. Delayed sowing and waterlogging could still reduce yields at the margin and support feed grain prices.
