The US Army Corps of Engineers St. Paul District awarded Brennan Marine a $9.1 million contract on September 29 to move 325,000 cubic yards of dredged sand near Wabasha, Minnesota. Work is expected to begin next spring and the contractor has two years to finish.
Dredging keeps the upper Mississippi navigable and prevents channel closures that would raise barge freight costs for grain shipments. The project is routine maintenance with limited direct price impact.
