The Global Dairy Trade auction on Tuesday lifted the GDT index by 3% to an average of €3,714/t, its third consecutive rise. Skim and whole milk powders gained 3.1% and 5.9%, and cheddar jumped 8.6%, while butter fell 4.7%.
Stronger milk powder and cheese prices point to firmer global dairy demand, which supports dairy-based feed ingredient values, while weaker butter and milk fat reflect soft fat demand. Feed buyers may see milk-powder-linked costs edge up.
