Barva Invest senior analyst Viktoria Blazhko forecasts that up to 5 million tonnes of sunflower seeds may go unprocessed in Ukraine in 2026/27. The baseline scenario sees only 7.2 million tonnes processed against a favorable capacity of about 12 million tonnes, due to security risks and maritime logistics complications.
Lower crush volumes reduce Ukrainian sunflower meal and oil output, tightening supplies of sunflower oil and meal in export markets and supporting prices for substitutes such as soybean and rapeseed products.
