Independent container hauliers at Chile's Port of San Antonio have blocked access to container depots since 28 October and say the stoppage will continue. More than 3,000 containers have been kept from entering or leaving the port, and the hauliers warn they could block fruit exports during the cherry season peak.
The story concerns fruit logistics rather than feed ingredients, so its direct effect on feed commodity prices is minimal. A prolonged port blockage could still add to shipping congestion and freight costs in the region.
